Mike Burwell here.
Have you heard any news regarding the TUA
(Temporary Use Agreement) that MacKay was supposed to receive Friday (according
to his "testimony" at the last board meeting)?
As you may (or may not) have heard, I have
purchased a Baba 30 and it will be arriving here in Sarasota in about a
week. Even though it is roughly the same size as my old boat, it is
considerably heavier and my intention is to reinforce my mooring (that I have
owned for over 10 years) in order to adequately secure it in a
blow.
King MacKay has issued a decree forbidding any
modifications of any kind to any moorings. Meanwhile, the rest of the
board sits around as "deer in the headlights" permitting him to usurp their
authority.
MacKay's position puts me in direct violation of
several standing rules and bylaws. I really need for every member of this
club to be aware of the fact that not only is MacKay making rules and
regulations without regard for the safety of the persons and property of our
club in particular and the public in general, but he has also taken it upon
himself to castrate the rest of the board of directors by failing to consult
with them to secure the opinions, advice and counsel of that
body.
I, lacking any news or updates from MacKay, wish to
inform the board, the club and him that I will be modifying my mooring with
or without his "permission". I suggest that if he has a problem with
that he either reconsiders his position or
resigns.
